In the Honor Code, ““honor”” is defined as the character and virtue of ””being true to one’s conscience, [ and following one’s] convictions as to what is right or wrong, without succumbing to temptation or pressure to do otherwise;" to uphold this, the Honor Committee deals with three primary violations of honor: lying, cheating, and stealing.
For most of the semester, the Honor Committee will function to simply promote and emphasize the values of integrity and conscience; cases of the above-mentioned offenses, should they arise, will be notified by mail, phone, or in person, to the Honor Committee. The Honor Committee will meet and hold hearings as necessary, and reach a conclusion on what actually took place, and what should be done. This conclusion will be announced to the entire student body.
For the most part, the Honor Committee will serve to mediate between the school discipline committee & the student. Should the student be found guilty of violating his or her own honor, as well as the class and the school the student belongs to, the appropriate sanction may be handed out to the guilty student. |
